‘Pillar of Promise’: Obama to launch $15M CDC vaccine campaign

President Barack Obama has announced a $15 million federal vaccine campaign aimed at helping prevent the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus.
The White House said Thursday that it will launch a vaccine program called Pillar of Hope that will focus on the coronaviruses and the strains that spread them, and will also include information on the “other deadly coronavireuses.”
The campaign will also provide technical assistance to health-care providers to improve the capacity of their facilities.
Obama has made a point of emphasizing the importance of making sure the federal government has the resources needed to fight the coronavalvirus pandemic.
He has called for the development of a national vaccine plan, including funding for research and development, and for the construction of high-quality vaccine facilities.
The coronaviral pandemic, which began in October and has killed more than 1,000 people and forced tens of millions from their homes, has killed at least 1,700 people in the United States and more than 4,000 in Canada.
